If you now leave the Plaza Mayor towards your left and walk all the way down the street called Fuente Dorada, you will reach the beginning of the Bajada de la Libertad, a downward street that will take you right in front of the façade of Teatro Calderón: the city’s main theatre and a convenient site from where you may enjoy a visit to a number of churches on the adjacent streets.
There’s an incomparable sight! And one of the city’s main emblems: the façade of Saint Paul’s church. Behind the church there beigins the museum route. If you want to get there, all you have to do is take the street right opposite San Pablo’s main entrance before turning right. You may for example make a stop at Saint Benedict’s church.
Now that your senses are awakened and that you have enjoyed the city’s ornamental beauty, it’s time for a little bit of relaxation! Keep on walking along the street called María de Molina until you reach the Plaza de Zorrilla, where its round-shaped public fountain will tell you the time. On the background you will see the traditional boulevard called Acera de Recoletos, featuring a number of beautiful buildings, and the city’s ‘lungs’ –the park known as Campo Grande.
