Alex is a fifteen-year-old girl who was born with what doctors call genital ambi- guity. Her parents left Buenos Aires so that she could grow up in a protected envi-ronment. The family lives in a lonely cabin on the Uruguayan coast. One day they receive the visit of a couple they are friends with and their son Álvaro. Álvaro’s father, a plasticsurgeon, has accepted the invitation because of his professional interest in Alex’s case. Álvaro is fully immersed in his own adolescent conflict with his sexuality. Alex is carefree and acidic:as soon as they meet she proposes they go to bed. In the village, she is regarded as a freak. The fascination produced by her body, the dilemma experienced by the adult characters and theattraction Alex arouses among adolescents will confront them with what they most feared.
