Directors Güzin Kar and Angelo Madsen Minax presented their respective documentaries this Sunday, 24th October 2021, at the Cervantes Theatre as the closing event in the Time of History section of the 66th edition of Seminci. Both projects deal with human reality from the very personal perspective of the directors.

North by Current is a feature-length documentary in which filmmaker Madsen Minax returns to his Mormon family home to make a film about a broken justice system, three years after the death of his niece. “It’s a film with a lot to see in many places, you have to let yourself become immersed in it,” the North American director told the audience, to whom he repeated that “there is nothing specific that you should look for.”

In the same session, the short film Your Street was screened, in which Güzin Kar makes a racial critique with the Swiss streets as the protagonists. “We’ve made a big impact in the United States, and it has been shortlisted for the Oscars,” the filmmaker commented on the impact of the project.

Seminci will show another screening of the feature film North by Current on Wednesday 27th October at 4:30pm at Broadway Cinemas, Hall 9.
