Director Paco Ortiz and producer José Carlos de la Isla, creators of the production company Sarao Films, presented on October 26th, 2021 Algo Salvaje. Bambino [A Bit Wild: Bambino], which is taking part in the DOC.Spain section of the 66th edition of Seminci.
Algo Salvaje. Bambino tells the story of “the too short and too intense life” of Miguel Vargas Jiménez, known as ‘Bambino’. On the question of why make a documentary about ‘Bambino’, Ortiz commented: “Why not? And why not before? When you start to look into his figure you discover an overwhelming personality and an “artist of artists,” as Camarón used to say. “Bambino is a force of nature, something wild,” added Ortiz at the presentation of the film.
The screening at Seminci marks the beginning of the documentary’s journey through festivals, which culminates on November 19th with its cinema release. Its creators have expressed the importance of this screening: “You are our first audience.”
Algo Salvaje. Bambino goes through the personal and artistic life of the rumba king: “When we talk about a bit wild we refer to the stage presence that ‘Bambino’ had, which was literally wild and above all the life he lived, he was not tame at all. He did what he wanted to, when he wanted to and how he wanted to,” he added.
Regarding the figure of ‘Bambino’, the director defined him with a phrase of Bunbury’s: “There are two types of people in this world, those who like ‘Bambino’ and those who still haven’t heard him.”
