The Time of History section of the 66th Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci) screened this Friday, October 20, 2021 the feature film ‘Corsini interpreta a Blomberg y Maciel’  by Argentine filmmaker Mariano Llinás.

Mariano Llinás, who attended the film’s presentation and screening , said that for him this international premiere of his film was “a moving event; it is the first time this film is screening worldwide.” The movie tells the story of a group of people who come together to re-record an album which they know perfectly well. In an almost jocular tone, Llinás highlighted three positive features of his latest work: “It is a film that, while not particularly short, is a lot shorter than all the films I have made before” (the director’s filmography contains a number titles with remarkably long running times); “you needn’t undergo the same kind of trial as previous audiences had to bear with,” he added amidst general laughter before pointing out that the story is close to comedy, without quite being so: “The audience is expected to laugh when they choose to, which is not a bad thing either,” Llinás continued tongue-in-cheek. Finally, the filmmaker stressed that the movie is a musical, insofar as “it is a film where songs are sung practically all the time.”

Finally, Llinas claimed that “this film is the cinematic version of a socio-political phenomenon that is very pressing at the moment in the Argentine Republic —”la Grieta” (the rift): take any issue: in less than no time you’ll hear opinions in one sense , others in the opposite direction, and yet another set of views which are by no means clear, but which inevitable people will take to stand in opposition to what they themselves believe”.

Mariano Llinás expressed his great acknowledgement to the Valladolid Festival and to the audience attending the screening, not without also dedicating his warmest words of affection to his Valladolid friends .
