Two friends, having had a glass too much, start a tavern brawl, break some glasses and the waiter’s head. They are obliged by the authorities to reenact their fight in front of a camera with the aim of making an ‘educational’ film. Two bystanders watch upon the youngsters’ degradation at the hands of the prosecutor: a pedantic alcoholic and a girl who is amused by the succession of the events. Voted best Romanian film of all time by 40 Romanian film critics, ‘The Reenactment’ was acquired by MoMA for its permanent collection in 2013.
