Cesar Martínez Herrada, director of Fiel a lo incierto: “García Pelayo’s way of making films is unique”

This Saturday, 22 October, the DOC España section screened César Martínez Herrada‘s feature film Fiel a lo incierto (True to Uncertainty). This film, which began to be shot during the filming of Alma Quebrada – a documentary premiered in the same section at the 67th Seminci – is presented as a sort of compilation of García Pelayo‘s film activity.

The presentation was attended by its director, César Martínez Herrada, and the filmmaker Gonzalo García Pelayo, on whom the plot of this film revolves. The film also features the participation of Ana Bernal, José de los Camarones, Rosa Ávila, Javier García Pelayo, Álvaro Arroba, Jeri Iglesias, Jordi Costa.

The feature film takes a look at Gonzalo García Pelayo‘s facet as a film director. Recognised as one of our most personal filmmakers by the specialised critics, he never ceases to set himself challenges; the last one: to shoot ten films in one year. This is where this documentary begins, which takes the viewer into a cinematographic work with which he has created a genre in itself: the García Pelayo genre.

“This film arises to give value to Gonzalo‘s works. The piece brings that light and colour of all the pieces of the 10+1 project”, explains the director, “the way of making films, of living it, of feeling it and transmitting it is unique”, Martínez Herrada emphasised. The filmmaker defines Fiel a lo incierto with a single purpose: to make known to those who don’t know.

“If the public or the people who might see this film are more interested in the García Pelayo genre, we will have achieved one of our objectives. There are many people who are missing out on very good films”, concluded the director.
