CINEMA FROM FAR AND NEAR

The main competitive sections of the 67th Seminci provide an opportunity to discover the new talents of international auteur cinema, while at the same time giving spectators the chance to follow the trail of those directors who are already part of the festival’s history. Today, the Official Selection will be reunited with one of them: the Iranian Jafar Panahi, Golden Spike almost two decades ago for his Crimsold Gold, who won at the
48th edition with an award shared with Osama, by the Afghan Siddik Barmak.

Joining Panahi in the competition for the main prizes are China’s Li Ruijun, with Return to Dust, and Indonesia’s Kamila Andini, with Before, Now & Then, three distant proposals that coexist in the programme with others that touch us very closely. Among the latter, the one that can be seen at the Valladolid Unesco City of Film gala, which includes the screening of Voy a asármelo bien, by David Serrano, with Valladolid locations in its footage. The closest and the realities of other latitudes coexist perfectly in the offer of a Week that is as international as it is pending of the next.
