Jules’ life and career as a drag queen are destroyed by a brutal homophobic attack. But when some time later, in a gay sauna, he meets by chance his attacker, Preston, who keeps his sexual orientation hidden, Jules finds his opportunity for revenge. Unrecognisable without his wig and make-up, Jules infiltrates into Preston’s life and, in doing so, starts up a dangerous seduction.
Together they co-wrote and co-directed the BIFA-winning and BAFTA-nominated short film ‘Femme’ in 2021, which premiered at the SXSW festival. Sam H. Freeman has worked extensively in television, most recently writing the pilot for his own original series for Bad Wolf and HBO Max. His other television work includes ‘Industry’, ‘This Is Going Hurt’ and ‘The Power’. His first original series, ‘Unmasked’, was sold to Disney. Ng Choon Ping recently directed a new adaptation of Strindberg’s ‘Miss Julie’ at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, as well as ‘Macbeth’ at the Bristol Old Vic. He has directed for the past decade at the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Young Vic, and has received multiple prestigious awards in recognition of his theatrical work. The two have premiered their first feature film, developed from the short film of the same name, at the Berlin Film Festival.
