Monastery of Yuste, 21 September 1558. Emperor Charles V, decrepit and ill, like a Don Juan on his last night, is dying, while the most important women in his life appear before him like nightmares. This is the plot of the play ‘Letters to the Emperor’, which a group of actresses is about to premiere at Valladolid’s Teatro Calderón. But things do not go as planned.
