Waldo de los Ríos was a renowned Argentinian musician based in Spain, whose version of the Himno de la alegría took him to the top of the charts all over the world. After two decades of splendour, in 1977 he was found dead with two shots in the face: a mysterious suicide about which little was known beyond speculation. Waldo connects the investigation of writer Miguel Fernández with that of Charlie Arnáiz (nominated for a Goya for Best Documentary for Anatomy of a Dandy) and Alberto Ortega, revealing a life of fame and luxury, but also of homophobia, dictatorship and depression. Driven by the desire not to be forgotten, the celebrated composer kept a vast amount of footage that now allows us to reach previously unexplored spheres of his public and private life. Home videos, photographs, audios and letters accompany the testimonies of people such as his widow Isabel Pisano, in an attempt to draw the portrait of a complex person from the fragments and remains he left behind.
Charlie Arnaiz, Alberto Ortega Ahumada

The two met in 2008 and in 2014 founded Por Amor al Arte, the production company with which they produced in tandem works such as ‘Aunque tú no lo sepas. La poesía de Luis García Montero’ (2016), which premiered at the Malaga Festival. In 2017, they both launched Dadá Films & Entertainment, where they developed documentary projects such as ‘Ramoncín. Una vida en el filo’ (2017), ‘Generación instante’ (2018) or ‘Un país en Labordeta’ (2019), as well as television shows (‘La teoría del espejo’), podcasts (‘Adoleszentes’) and commercials. In 2020, they premiered ‘Anatomía de un dandy’, which was later nominated for a Goya for best documentary, and among their latest works are ‘Raphaelismo’ (2022) and the documentary series ‘Supergarcía’ (2023) and ‘El rey del cachopo’.
