SEMINCI will be programming a special screening of The Wailing, the debut film by the Valladolid-born director Pedro Martín-Calero, following its premiere in the Official Section of the San Sebastian Festival. Starring Ester Expósito (Elite, Veneno, Your Son) and produced by Isabel Peña, who also co-wrote the screenplay, this dramatic horror film also features Mathilde Ollivier (Mrs. Davies, 1899, Overload) and Malena Villa (The Angel, Matadero, The Lobbyist) in the cast. The actresses play three women who, at different points in time and unknowingly connected, face a threat that transcends them.
In The Wailing Andrea is being stalked by something, but no one, not even herself, can see it at first sight. Twenty years ago, ten thousand kilometres away, the same presence terrorised Marie. Camila was the only one who could understand what was happening to her, but no one believed it. Faced with this oppressive threat, the three of them hear the same overwhelming sound. The Wailing.
The Wailing is a Spanish-French-Argentine film produced by Caballo Films, Setembro Films, Tandem Films, Tarea Fina, Noodles Production and El Llanto AIE with the participation in Spain of RTVE and Prime Video, and the financing of ICAA, Madrid City Council and Madrid Regional Government. The film will be released on 25 October by Universal Pictures Spain.
