Youth (Homecoming)

 Wang Bing returns to take a committed look at the young community of future workers developing in China, bringing the camera closer to the time the employees spend outside the Zhili textile factories, now empty due to the New Year's celebrations. Premiered in the Official Section of the Venice Film Festival, the film focuses on festivities, weddings and new beginnings. Through this shared time, it reflects the uncertainty that permeates a generation that has undergone one of the greatest economic transformations in the country's history and seems to be entering an uncertain future where labour exploitation and hyper-productivity threaten to annihilate the life and collective identity of a working class that sustains the textile production of an entire continent.
