24/10/2019.- The screening of the silent film Chemi Bebia (My Grandmother, 1929) accompanied by a live music performance at Teatro Calderón provided a brilliant closure today (Thursday, 24 October) to Georgia’s Day, held within the framework of the retrospective “Focus on Georgia” scheduled by the 64th edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival.
Directed by Kote Mikaberidze, the film tells the story of a group of business executives who spend the day lazing about. The dismissal of the company’s manager causes such despair in him that he eventually contemplates committing suicide, but he regains hope when he sees the possibility of being readmitted. The support of some “grandmother” will determine his professional future. A feature film programmed as part of the retrospective dedicated to Georgia as this year’s guest country, My Grandmother screened on Thursday at Seminci’s main venue Teatro Calderón.
