10/10/2019.- The 64th edition of Seminci welcomes some of Movistar +’s upcoming wagers: a TV series and a couple of fiction films. The subscription platform’s presence in the Valladolid Festival (and, more particularly, in a section that bears its name) will include the screening of the first three chapters of Perfect Life, a series devised, co-written and co-directed (with Elena Martín and Ginesta Guindal) by Leticia Dolera, who also plays one of the fiction’s lead characters alongside Celia Freijeiro and Aixa Villagrán. Awarded at the Cannesseries festival as Best Series, where it also harvested a Special Prize for the performance of the leading trio, the show addresses the vicissitudes experienced by three women at a turning point in their lives.
Movistar + will be also presenting 1987, a Korean feature film where Jang Joon-hwan reconstructs a real event that happened in his country: the death of a young student in the course of a police interrogation (an episode hidden by the authorities). The case sparked off a journalistic investigation and an outbreak of protests that eventually overthrew the government.
Additionally, the Movistar + fest section will be hosting the Spanish premiere of The Party is Just Beginning, the long-feature directorial and screenwriting debut of Scottish actress Karen Gillan. The film tells the story of a teenager who is struggling to overcome the death of her best friend. Best known for her performances in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle or the TV series Doctor Who, Gillan’s movie won a nomination for Best Film at the BAFTA Scotland Awards.
