10/30/2020.- The fiction film Window to the sea, directed by Miguel Ángel Jiménez, was screened at the Spanish Cinema section of the 65th Valladolid International Film Festival this Friday. The film tells the story of María, a civil servant from Bilbao who is diagnosed with an advanced serious illness. Her diagnosis will allow her to open a new window looking out to the sea.

The idea for the film was born in Greece, following a “very personal story and an inner journey”, according to Jiménez. The filmmaker also wants the audience to reflect on the way we live and the options available for us to live a happy life, despite every setback: “Making this film was an adventure in a very sensitive sense, so I hope it will make a deep impression in all of you”, he added.

The film’s protagonists, Emma Suárez and Gaizka Ugarte, attended the event with the director. Both of them said how proud and satisfied they were with how the feature film turned out: “It is a very honest story springing straight from his heart, and that shows”, said Ugarte.

Finally, both actors said how touched and grateful they felt towards the audience: “It moves me to see that there’s still people who, even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, feel the need to watch movies that arouse emotions”, said Suárez.
