Spanish actress Emma Suárez, the winner of three Goya awards, will be the ‘godmother’ of the 66th edition of Seminci. As such, she will be reading aloud the letter where fest director Javier Angulo welcomes guests and audiences and presents the main outline of the event in the course of the Opening Gala . Among many other recognitions received throughout her career, Emma Suárez garnered the Best Actress Award at the 55th Film Week for The Mosquito Net, as well as one of the 62nd edition’s Honorary Spikes. Moreover, she was a member of last year’s International Jury.
Suárez has a long career behind her: she debuted at the age of 14 with Memoirs of Leticia Valle, in which she shared cast with Fernando Rey and Héctor Alterio, and since then she has not stopped working. Under the orders of the most important Spanish directors, she has carved out a career for herself that earned her an Ondas Award and two Silver Fotogramas, an Actors Union Award, the prize presented by the Film Writers Circle, two José María Forqué awards, the Silver Biznaga from the Malaga Festival for the Best Actress, three Sant Jordi Awards, the Teatro de Rojas award or the Márgenes Special Award.
Morgade and Marcial will present the opening gala
The 66th edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival, which will run from October 23 to 30, will screen a total of 230 films (154 feature-lengths and 76 shorts) over an eight-day programme. The new edition will kick off with the Spanish film Libertad, by Clara Roquet.
