Pesar [The Son], the first feature film by the Iranian Nooshin Meraji, was presented today Thursday 28th October 2021 in the Meeting Point section at the 66th edition of Seminci with the presence of its director. Premiered at the Rotterdam festival and award-winner at the Moscow festival, The Son is “pure symbolism.” Through Farid, the film’s protagonist, it deals with contemporary human lack of communication: “There is no human warmth between one and the other,” she pointed out.

Regarding the screening at Seminci, the director encouraged the audience to correct it and make their own feature film. “Every time I watch the film, another window opens up for me and I think about my next project, about the mistakes I might have made, things I should have done differently,” she admitted.

Meraji is currently preparing her second feature film and says she is having trouble finding a producer in Iran. With respect to the production of Pesar, she stated that “it hasn’t been an easy road because right now it’s very difficult to work in Iran, but it went ahead.”

The feature film was preceded by the screening of the short film Intercom 15, by Andrei Epure, who expressed his gratitude to the festival for the opportunity and commented that it was his first time in Spain.
