The 67th Seminci is hosting the Quercus programme for the ninth consecutive year.

Since 2013, the Valladolid International Film Week has hosted the Quercus programme, which this year took place at the Broadway Cinemas on Monday 24 October. Maite Coneisa, director of the Filmoteca de Castilla y León, was at the screening together with some of the people who have participated in the short films, presenting the programme, which this year has seven films: El viaje; Ramiro, pastor de por vida; Desguace; Acueductos; 8:19; El establo; El río de la memoria.

“Being here is a good platform for them and for everyone in general in the sector in Castilla y León,” commented Maite Coneisa. “The showcase and the framework of Seminci is important,” she added.

Before the start of the screening, four of the seven short films were briefly explained by some of their crew members.

“The format is intimate and tries to give the spectator the leading role. It is a declaration of love for cinema and that magic that cinema often has”, commented David Fernández on behalf of the troubadour of the short film El viaje.

Eduardo Margareto, director of Ramiro, pastor de por vida, commented on his film that “it is a true story, about a shepherd from a village in Zamora. All we have done is to accompany him and let him act”, to which his partner Rafael Monje added “It simply shows the authenticity of a person. It is a tribute to the profession of the shepherd”.

Marta Fuertes attended the screening on behalf of the 8:19 team and summed up the short film as “life itself. Don’t leave for tomorrow what you can do today. Enjoy the moment and your loved ones. It’s carpe diem”. To conclude, Elisa Puerto, director of El establo, did not want to spoil the short film, limiting her speech to comment: “I’ll let you see what happens and that you enjoy it a lot”.
