Meeting Point section today welcomed the German Lukas Nathrath and his One Last Evening , a film that aims to involve the viewer in the evening of a group of friends amidst growing tension.

The idea for the film was born in the middle of the pandemic and the shooting took place that same summer, in an apartment and in temperatures of up to forty degrees, circumstances that, according to the director, contributed to the feeling of oppression and confinement that the story conveys.

Unlike other films shot in a single enclosed space, in which “a more theatrical atmosphere” is generated, Nathrath has sought “a cinematic tone” with the camera following the actors’ footsteps.

Because, at the end of the day, what the young German filmmaker has sought is “for the viewer to have the feeling of being there as one more”, as a participant in the social dynamics surrounding the “power struggles” that lie behind One Last Evening.
