Actress Marta Nieto will present the opening Gala and journalist Elena Sánchez will present the closing Gala with comedian Joaquín Reyes

The 68th Seminci will kick off this Saturday 21 with an Opening Gala presented by actress Marta Nieto (El camino de los ingleses, by Antonio Banderas; Madre, by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, for which she won the award for best actress in the Horizons section of the Venice Festival) and will feature the music of Guadalupe Plata.

The fusion of blues with different genres has brought the group from Jaén that will sound in the early stages of the festival awards such as the Critical Eye Award, the Impala for best European independent album or those designating the “Artist of the Year” (2014), the best rock album and best live at the IV Independent Music Awards.

Other rhythms will flood the Calderón Theater to bid farewell to the edition on Saturday, October 28, and accompany the awards ceremony at the Closing Gala, which will be hosted by journalist Elena Sánchez, presenter of Historia de nuestro cine (TVE), and comedian Joaquín Reyes.

The legendary leader of Radio Futura, Santiago Auserón, will perform some of his songs live after starring in one of the special screenings of the festival: Semilla del son, by JuanMa V. Betancort, which delves into the work of this artist influenced by Cuban music from the eighties to the most recent project that has renamed him Juan Perro. And there will be even more music at the farewell, with El Meister (Javier Vielba, voice and composer of Arizona Baby and Corizonas), accompanied by a paloteo dance group.

Prior to this, 188 films will have screened at the festival in 348 screenings, 117 of which will be premieres (95 national, 17 world, 1 international and 4 European).
