SEMINCI and ADICINE organise the fourth edition of MERCI Valladolid, the most important independent film market in the territory

The most eagerly awaited independent film premieres will be programmed exclusively for exhibitors, television channels and platforms, jointly organised by the Valladolid International Film Festival and ADICINE.

From 23 to 25 October, Valladolid will host the fourth edition of the Independent Film Market (MERCI Valladolid), an initiative co-organised by SEMINCI and the Association of Independent Film Distributors (ADICINE), bringing together Spain’s 15 leading distribution companies.

MERCI Valladolid, the only initiative of its kind in Spain, aims to promote independent and auteur cinema, bringing the most outstanding titles from Spanish independent distributors to exhibitors, television channels and platforms in order to promote the arrival of such titles to the public and to facilitate relations between distribution and exhibition professionals.

Over the course of three days, MERCI Valladolid will be programming the premieres of the most eagerly awaited films at the Broadway cinemas, which are scheduled to arrive in cinemas at the end of 2024 and throughout 2025, with the help of the different distributors that make up ADICINE. A total of 23 titles will make up the MERCI Valladolid 2024 selection. The screenings will be exclusively accessible to invited professionals, with the aim of maximising their circulation and encouraging better promotion in preparation for their premiere.

ADICINE: ‘We thank the Festival and specifically José Luis Cienfuegos for his support in hosting and promoting this initiative, which has been consolidated as the main meeting point for distribution and exhibition in the country. MERCI has demonstrated its capacity to connect and transform the independent film industry by growing year after year,’ stated Lara Pérez-Camiña and Enrique Costa, co-presidents of ADICINE.

For its fourth edition, MERCI Valladolid will host more than 140 guests including distributors, exhibitors, programmers as well as directors and heads of marketing, content and acquisitions from different television channels and platforms. The MERCI 2024 Award will also be presented to an outstanding personality for their contribution to independent cinema.
