Twelve filmmakers open the doors of their creative process to the public in a new edition of the DAMA Dialogues at the 69th edition of SEMINCI

The 69th edition also hosts, for the first time, the DAMA Tuesdays on 22 October, with the participation of Marta Nieto and Beatriz Herzog, director and co-screenwriter of La mitad de Ana

Valladolid, 14 October 2024. SEMINCI is once again partnering with the Society of Audiovisual Media Authors’ Rights (DAMA) this year, following the success of the DAMA Dialogues at last year’s edition. This initiative proposes a meeting point between authors and the audience after the screenings of some of the Spanish films included in the Official Section, Meeting Point, Alchemies and Time of History.

In this 69th edition, Spanish filmmakers whose films participate in the different sections of the Festival will share their experience about the creative process of their works with the spectators of their feature films in an enriching open dialogue between audience and filmmakers. Among them, Marta Nieto, Carlos Marques-Marcet, Mar Coll and Paz Vega. DAMA Dialogues offers viewers an experience that transcends the simple viewing of the work, bringing them closer to a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process.

The films with Q&A are Polvo serán, by Carlos Marques-Marcet (Saturday 19, Carrión Theatre); Rita, by Paz Vega (Sunday 20, Calderón Theatre); Waldo, by Alberto Ortega (Monday 21, Zorrilla Theatre and Tuesday 22, Broadway 2 cinemas); La mita de Ana, by Marta Nieto (Monday 21, Calderón Theatre); La marsellesa de los borrachos, by Pablo Gil Rituerto (Monday 21, Zorrilla Theatre and Tuesday 22, Broadway 1 cinemas); Fin de fiesta, by Elena Manrique (Tuesday 22, Calderón Theatre and Wednesday 23, Carrión Theatre); En la alcoba del sultán, by Javier Rebollo (Wednesday 23rd, Calderón Theatre and Thursday 24th, Carrión Theatre); Mi hermano Ali, by Paula Palacios (Wednesday 23rd, Zorrilla Theatre); La Parra, by Alberto Gracia (Thursday 24th, Zorrilla Theatre and Friday 25th, Broadway 2 cinemas); Salve María, by Mar Coll (Thursday 24, Teatro Calderón and Friday 25, Teatro Carrión); Misericordia, by Alain Guiraudie (Friday 25, Calderón Theatre), and Turismo de guerra, by Kikol Grau (Friday 25, Sala FUNDOS and Saturday 26, Broadway 1 cinemas).

DAMA Tuesdays first meeting in Valladolid

Valladolid will also host, for the first time in this 69th edition, the DAMA Tuesdays talk, an activity that has been running for ten years and enriches the collaboration between the institution and SEMINCI. On Tuesday 22 October, Marta Nieto, director, star and co-screenwriter of La mitad de Ana, and co-screenwriter Beatriz Herzog will converse with screenwriter and DAMA president Virginia Yagüe and Pablo Barrera Martín-Meras, DAMA board member. This event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Patio Herreriano Museum.
