Exhibition ‘Huellas y Fugas. El cine español en SEMINCI’

Behind each film project programmed at the Valladolid International Film Festival lies a vast task of production, documentation, research and creative and technical effort to make it a reality, to turn it into images that remain in the retina of the spectators and form part, in the case of the most brilliant productions, of the history of Spanish cinema, heritage and forger of our culture. In order to give greater visibility to 17 films in the Official Section, as well as in Time of History and Alchemies, the 69th edition presents the exhibition Traces and Fugues. Spanish cinema at SEMINCI. Curated by the set designer and visual artist Ramón Isidoro and the director of SEMINCI, José Luis Cienfuegos, the exhibition brings together documents, costumes, posters, storyboards and other objects related to the production or filming of the following titles Salve María, by Mar Coll and Polvo serán, by Carlos Marques-Marcet. The elements that make up the imaginary of each work can be as varied and different as the minds that imagine them and bring them to their final form. From the robotic prototype of Cyborg Generation, by Miguel Morillo to the shed of Fin de fiesta, by Elena Manrique, or a shooting log of Hija del volcán, by Jenifer de la Rosa. Traces and Fugues. El cine español en SEMINCI proposes an intimate approach to the imaginations and creative thinking of the Spanish filmmakers present at this edition, with a view to becoming an event that will be repeated at subsequent editions. It can be visited in the exhibition hall of the San Benito Tourist Office from 15 October to 3 November, Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm and from 4 to 8 pm.

An eccentric among eccentrics, David Lynch fits the Renaissance canon: he is a director and screenwriter and has also worked as a producer, photographer, cartoonist and composer. His filmography, characterised by a particular surrealist aesthetic and his personal obsession with exploring the dark side of the human experience, includes titles such as Lost Highway, A True Story and Mulholland Drive, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Director for the third time. Coinciding with the 69th Seminci, the Fundación Municipal de Cultura is organising an exhibition curated by Antonella Montinaro, entitled Surrealismo Fantástico de David Lynch, which takes a look at his biography and delves into his ‘fetish’ themes and the techniques he has developed over the course of his long career.
