He was born in Ciudad Real in 1962. With a degree in Information Sciences and Law, he began working in film and television as a director and producer, as well as in the research and conservation of archival records held at the Spanish Film Library. Until 2003 he was film advisor and director of the Madrid Community’s Film Promotion Office, the director of the Animadrid International Festival, and a member of the Consejo Superior Audiovisual and of the Board of Directors of Filmad. Since 2004, he has been director for Film Events of the Madrid City Council and of Cineteca, member of the Board of Trustees of the Madrid Film Commission and of Madrid de Cine, and director of DocumentaMadrid. He has also directed the short film Al pasar la barca (2003) and the documentary Cómo ver Egipto (2010).
