German journalist Philip Winter travels around the United States shooting Polaroids while looking for inspiration to write a book, but since he can’t even start writing it, his publisher cancels the contract and he decides to return to Germany. At the airport he meets a woman with whom he spends the night, as there are no flights until the next day. She then disappears, but not before asking him to travel with her daughter Alice to Amsterdam, where the woman will reunite with them both.
Wim Wenders
Director, producer, photographer and auteur cinema guru, born in 1945 in Düsseldorf (Germany). He was one of the pioneers of the New German Cinema of the 1970s and his filmography includes key titles of contemporary cinema awarded at Cannes such as ‘Paris, Texas’ (1984, Palme d’Or) and ‘Wings of Desire’ (1987, best director ) or ‘Perfect Days’ (2023, best actor), as well as Oscar-nominated documentaries such as ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ (1999), ‘Pina’ (2011) and ‘The Salt of the Earth’ (2014). In 1989 he played a major role in the creationof the European Film Academy, where he was elected president of its Governing Board, and in 2015 he was awarded the honorary Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival. His photographic and film work has been exhibited and awarded at festivals and museums around the world. In 2012 he created, together with his wife Donata Wenders, the foundation that bears his name.
