‘Domar la luz’, a musical-visual interaction by Oihan
Oihan is the personal project of Guillermo Aragón, drummer in Arizona Baby or Cosmic Birds, and singer and songwriter in Tuxedo. After releasing his first EP (‘Canciones para Imanol’) in 2020, in 2021 he presented his debut full-length: ‘Un paseo por el bosque’ (Calaverita Records), a collection of intimate songs with a minimalist folk spirit, which does not renounce a contemporary sound.
In 2022 he published his own version of ‘Romance del conde Olinos’, a psychedelic pop journey through the Castilian oral tradition, which was included in a compilation by the contemporary experimental music label Vestíbulo.
This same year of 2024 he released ‘Domar la luz’ (Calaverita Records), his second full-length album, an electronic and poetic expansion of his characteristic sound, with the collaboration of the Asturian band San Jerónimo in the evocative song that lends its title to the album, or turning up the revs in ‘Tu dulce manzana’.
As part of this year’s Seminci, on Wednesday 23rd at the Broadway Cinemas, he will present the audiovisual show he has designed around this project. ‘Domar la luz’ will be a live performance in a movie theater. A continuous dialogue of three musicians, a sound engineer and a video jockey, with original music by Oihan.
The artist anticipates that the audience will be able to enjoy «a compendium of more questions than answers. And a visual and sound journey through opaque and dense environments, yet also open to hope, sifting and tracing the most determinant and transversal element of visual language from the beginnings of photography to the most contemporary cinema: light».
Oihan has been performing solo in a live format involving multiple instruments on an extensive tour of more than thirty concerts, including venues on the Iberian Peninsula such as La Riviera in Madrid or La Lata de Bombillas in Zaragoza, festivals like Summer End and performances with Ángel Stanich or The New Raemon. In band format, he has recently performed on Los Conciertos de Radio 3.
