In tribute to Carlos Saura, Berlinale Classics released this 4K restoration in 2024, which highlights the reconstruction of the original audio. The richness of a soundtrack that is the lyrical hallmark of the film is recovered, with the unforgettable ‘Me quedo contigo’ by Los Chunguitos as the main track. Winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 1981, this film is one of the last achievements of the alliance formed between Saura and the producer Elías Querejeta, as well as the director's personal and enigmatic approach to the so-called ‘cine quinqui’. In the suburbs of Madrid, the relationship between Pablo and Ángela emerges, who together with Sebas and Meca try to get money quickly to escape from the marginal environment in which they live, falling into a fast and dangerous spiral of delinquency, drugs, violence and self-destruction.
