SEMINCI hosts the world premiere of La mitad de Ana, the directorial debut of Marta Nieto (nominated for a Goya for her performance in Madre). The first feature-length fiction film by the renowned actress is a sequel to Son, which participated in the Official Selection of the 67th edition of the festival. Ana is a separated mother, balancing her job as a security guard at an art centre with taking care of Son, her eight-year-old daughter. When Son begins a process of exploring her gender identity, Ana must also embark on an internal journey which will lead her to look back at the woman she was before becoming a mother. Ana's Half offers an honest portrait of the relationship between a mother and child who together seek to recognise themselves and each other. In addition to directing, Nieto stars in the film in the role of Ana. She is accompanied by Noa Álvarez as Son and Nahuel Pérez Biscayart (One Year, One Night, BPM).
Marta Nieto

Actress, screenwriter and director born in 1982 in Murcia, where she studied Drama and Philology. She made her film debut in ‘Summer Rain’ (Antonio Banderas’, 2006) and worked in popular television series before her performance in ‘Mother’ (Rodrigo Sorogoyen, 2019) became a turning point in her career, with accolades like the award for best actress in Venice’s Orizzonti section, her recognition at the Seville Festival or the Forqué Award. Her role in ‘Infamy’, by Lydia Cacho, earned her the 2023 Max Prize ex aequo with Marina Salas, and in 2024 she returned to the stage with ‘Vania x Vania’, by Pablo Remón. She combines projects in Spain, France and Italy. In 2022 she premiered ‘Son’, her debut short film as a director, in the Official Section of Seminci, and with ‘Becoming Ana’ (2024), her first feature, she delves deeper into her exploration of transgender childhood and identity conflicts.
