But when she falls pregnant, she sees the opportunity to finish her studies and escape the constraints of her social background disappearing. With her final exams fast approaching and her belly growing, Anne resolves to act, even if she has to confront shame and pain, even if she must risk prison to do so…

Audrey Diwan

Born in 1980, Audrey Diwan is a French film director of Lebanese origin. She became a scriptwriter after studying journalism and political science. She wrote the screenplay for Cédric Jimenez’s ‘La French’ (2014) with Jean Dujardin, and she is also editor-at-large for the magazine, Stylist. She is a member of Collectif 50/50, a French NGO promoting equality between men and women in the film industry. Her directorial debut film ‘Losing It’ premiered in 2019, and the second one, ‘Happening’ (2021), was awarded with the Golden Lion to the best film at the Venice Film Festival.
