Born in 1978 in Mexico City (Mexico), where he works with his theatre company Todas Las Fiestas de Mañana. Director and writer for the screen and the stage, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) in London. His first feature film, ‘Gueros’ (2014), won awards such as the best first film in Berlin, the Horizontes and Audience awards in San Sebastián, and five Ariel awards from the Mexican Academy. ‘Museo’ (2018), his second feature film, won the Silver Bear for best screenplay at the Berlinale and the awards for best director in Athens and Morelia, as well as premiering in Valladolid as part of the festival’s Meeting Point section. In 2021, he directed ‘A Cop Movie’, which won the Silver Bear for Best Artistic Contribution in Berlin and six Ariel awards.
