The London director with Indian-Iranian roots Sasha Nathwani approaches in his debut feature one of the milestones that mark the end of adolescence. Recovering the premise of films like Dazed and Confused (Richard Linklater) or Booksmart (Olivia Wilde), Last Swim takes place during the last day of high school of a group of students in London. Ziba is a bright young British-Iranian girl who always tries to approach life with an optimistic attitude. On this day of celebration, she plans to go with her friends to see a unique celestial event. However, on the threshold of adulthood, Ziba is confronted with a circumstance in her immediate reality that will make her question her vision of the future. The winner of the Berlin Film Festival's Generation section is a poignant and energetic coming-of-age story that addresses a young audience and, at the same time, contains a universal message: learning to let go of expectations (our own and others') and embracing uncertainty.
