Lucia lives an uneventful life as an IT specialist in Madrid. When the company goes bankrupt, she decides to make a radical change and become a taxi driver. In the taxi, she meets a series of colourful people, including Roberta, a theatre producer with whom she forms a great friendship, and Ricardo, a journalist who hits on her at the slightest opportunity. Yet, Lucía secretly hopes that, one day, Braulio, an actor with whom she had a fleeting fling, will jump in her taxi and finally become her prince charming. But reality can be stubborn and people might not really be who they seem to be...
Spanish director born in Madrid in 1976 and based in the United States, where he earned a MFA degree from Columbia University.. In 2012 he won the Critics’ Week Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival with his first feature film, ‘Here and There’, later awarded at the Havana, Bombay, Thessaloniki and Montreal festivals. His next work, ‘Life and Nothing More’ (2017), became the first Spanish production to win the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and in 2020 he premiered his first feature documentary, ‘Courtroom 3H’, at the San Sebastian Festival. ‘Something Is About to Happen’ (2023) is his fourth feature film and the first he has shot in Spain.
