He was born in Paris (France) in 1967 and began his career in 1988 on television and radio alongside the comedy group Les Nuls. He achieved international recognition in 2011 thanks to ‘The Artist’, which premiered at Cannes before winning five Oscars. After participating in the collective film ‘The Players’ (2012), he took the leap to drama with ‘The Search’ (2014). In 2017, together with Riad Sattouf and Florence Gastaud, he created Les Compagnons du Cinéma, his own production company, where he made ‘Godard Mon Amour’ (2017), which, like his previous work, competed again at Cannes, a festival that he opened out-of-competition in 2022 with ‘Final Cut’ and where he returned this year with ‘The Most Precious of Cargoes’ (2024), his first animated feature film, also selected at Annecy. Since the summer of 2019, he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Fémis, the French national film school.
