In the idyllic Danube Delta region, Adi is preparing for a quiet summer with his parents in their small town. However, a homophobic attack one night triggers a story about self-discovery and sexual identity in direct conflict with the traditional values of his own family and environment. Emanuel Parvu's film, an Oscar nominee for Romania and winner of the Sarajevo festival, takes advantage of the expansive frame to dwell on the natural beauty of the river, farmland and water-washed reeds. In the midst of all this elegance, the harsh sound of the summer wind carries Adi's difficult personal reality and his desire to escape, confronted by family and social repression stemming from a deeply rooted religious conservatism.
