SEMINCI director
Born in Bilbao (1949). Editor and cameraman for TVE in Bilbao. He was delegate in Euskadi, head editor of the political section of Politics and of the Sunday supplement of ‘El País’ between 1976 and 1982, and later editor-in-chief of Progresa, the magazine division of the PRISA group, where he founded the magazine ‘Cinemanía’ in 1995, which he directed for eleven years. He was, for years, a regular contributor on film for radio show ‘Hoy por hoy’, hosted by Iñaki Gabilondo on Spain’s premier radio network SER. He was a lecturer in the Master’s degree in Journalism at ‘El País’ and currently participates in the Master’s degree in Film, Communication and Audiovisual Arts recently created at the University of Valladolid in collaboration with the Valladolid International Film Festival (SEMINCI).
Angulo is the author of two documentaries: ‘The Loss’, which he co-directed with Enrique Gabriel (First Prize for Documentaries at the Havana Festival in 2006) and ‘La maleta de Helios’, co-directed with Nacho A. Villar and premiered in the Official Section of the Huelva Festival in 2019.
He collaborated for years with the Malaga Festival before taking over the direction of SEMINCI in 2008, a position he currently holds.
He is the author of books like ‘Ibarrola, ¿un pintor maldito?’ (Haramburu, 1978) and ‘Hijos del corazón: Guía Práctica para padres adoptivos’ (Temas de Hoy, Planeta, 2001).
He is a member of the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciencesand of the European Film Academy.
